NCLB’s Effect on Parental Involvement in School: An Evaluation
NCCF researchers worked with the Appleseed Foundation, Holland & Knight, and Price Waterhouse Cooper to examine the effects of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation on parents’ involvement in children’s education. Coordinating with Appleseed centers in Chicago, Connecticut, Georgia, Texas, and Washington, researchers evaluated how parents are currently receiving and utilizing information provided as a result of NCLB legislation. Specifically, NCCF researchers designed a protocol for parent focus groups. This work continued in North Carolina, with funding from the Kellogg Foundation, where researchers were responsible for running several parent focus groups, using the new protocol.
