Examining ECD Governance in Higher Education

Long ignored and under studied, the governance of early childhood education is rising to prominence as a domain of study in the literature and in institutions of higher education. The subject of this analysis is to discern how ECD teacher training programs conceptualize ECD governance, and how governance/systems concepts are incorporated in the curriculum of teacher preparation programs. Using a new methodology and basing the study on Long Island, the analysis will provide much needed information on the degree to which systems theory and governance are being addressed.  The work will seek to highlight innovative efforts and to discern the feasibility of exporting these to other institutions of higher education.
